X00310 Norah Eleanor Hewett Knox date of death - solved!

I have posted previously about finding death dates for the Hewett sisters, Annie F., Olive and Clara. I still haven't found anything for them, beyond 1965, where I found the three of them in a 1965 voters list.

But I have managed to find their sister Norah's date of death. It seems that someone has recently added her gravestone to find a grave. The stone gives a date of death of 9 April 1957, which means that I'll need to wait a few years before the Archives of Ontario releases the death information.

But it's another X-File solved!

The search for three sisters

Charles Edwin Hewett and Emily Jane Williams had six daughters and one son. Four of the daughters have presented problems as far as finding out what happened to them:

• Annie Frances Hewett [X00309], third daughter, born 10 March 1872
• Clara Augusta Hewett [X00311], fifth daughter, born 5 August 1876
• Olive Jane Hewett [X00312], sixth daughter, born 20 December 1880.

I have also had difficulties tracking down what happened to their fourth daughter, Norah Eleanor Hewett, but I will save that X-file for another time.

Clara became a school teacher in Orillia and Olive because a nurse.

I have found the three of them living together in Orillia in 1965 from a voters list:

So, they were all three still alive in 1965 and apparently unmarried. But nothing after that. I haven't found any cemetery listings for any of them, nor have I found any death notices in the Simcoe newspapers online. But the search continues...

Analysis: Death Date for Annie Frances Hewett

I had a green leaf show up on Ancestry for Annie Frances Hewett. She sort of disappears off the map after 1911, but an ancestry hint popped up with an Alberta death record. The death record shows an Annie F. Hewer dying in 1917 in Eastberg, Alberta.

So, I ordered the full record from the Provincial Archives of Alberta. While the information is close, there are a significant number of questionable items on the record:

• The surname does appear to be Hewer on the death record rather than Hewett
• Her middle name is listed as Florence rather than Frances. Her middle name is listed as Frances on her birth record [D04712].
• The contact name is listed as Harry K. Hewer. I have not come across anyone with a similar name to this point
• Her age is listed as 41 years, 11 months and 28 days. With a death date of 13 April 1917, this would work out to a date of birth of 16 February 1875, as opposed to the date of birth of 10 March 1872 on her birth registration [D04712]
• There's no sign that any of the rest of the family were in Alberta so the fact that she was found in a death record in Alberta is somewhat suspicious

With all of the above information, there are too many differences to conclude that this is the same Annie F. Hewett. So what happened to her beyond 1911 still remains a mystery.
